Microsoft Releases First-Ever Official Windows 11 ISO Images

Microsoft on Thursday released the first ever official Windows 11 ISO image, which allow users to download the images and perform a clean installation of the upcoming operating system or an in-place upgrade on dedicated test systems or virtual machines.

The Redmond giant has made ISO files available for Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.132 on the Windows Insider Preview Downloads page.

When users use these ISOs to install Windows 11, they will go through the new Windows 11 setup experience (often referred to as the “out of box experience”), which “is designed to build excitement for Windows 11 right from the moment you first turn on a new Windows 11 PC for the very first time,” Microsoft said in an announcement.

“Based on your feedback, we have added the ability to name your PC during the setup experience too.

After running through the setup experience, the Get Started app is a new first run experience app that will help you quickly get setup on a new PC. Try these things out and let us know what you think!

In order to download the new ISOs, you will first need to sign up for the Windows Insider Program via Microsoft’s website. As for as Windows Insiders, they can directly download Windows 11 ISO files.

Once your account is linked, you can visit the Windows Insider Preview Downloads page and choose either a Dev Channel or Beta Channel build to download and clean install Windows 11 build 22000.132.
